The integration course (BAMF)
The integration course is divided into two sections. Once you have completed the necessary 600 teaching units, you will pass the "German test for immigrants". This is followed by the orientation course with 100 teaching units, which concludes with the "Living in Germany" test.
As a participant, you undertake to attend the course regularly and to take the final exam.
Content
Integration courses are designed to make life in Germany easier for foreigners. A lot has already been achieved by learning the German language, as it makes it easier for you to find work, for example, or to fill out important applications. In addition, basic knowledge about Germany should be acquired, such as about the culture or the legal system.
Content of the language course
Here you will learn the basics of the German language and deal with important topics from everyday life. You will be trained in writing, reading and speaking. The goal is that you can communicate without the help of a third person. We have summarized for you in the graphic below which topics will be addressed in this context.
Content of the orientation course
Topics that are important for comprehensive integration are discussed here. For example, values or norms differ from country to country, so that aspects of life in Germany are addressed in this context. We have summarized these for you in the graphic below.
Completion and exams of the integration course (BAMF)
The aim of an integration course is to be able to act independently in everyday life. The qualification consists of a language test (“German test for immigrants”) and the test “Living in Germany” (LiD). A "Integration course certificate“ is issued if you have successfully completed the LiD and a language course with language level B1. The language course can also be completed with language level A2, although the test would be considered failed. In this case it is possible to Request for one-time repetition deliver.
"German test for immigrants" (DTZ)
The aim of the test, which is carried out after the language course, is to achieve language level B1. The written part, which lasts 100 minutes, includes a reading and listening test and writing a short letter. This is followed by the oral test of 15 minutes, in which you first introduce yourself and then demonstrate your communication skills with a second person and the examiners.
Test "Living in Germany" (Lid)
Here the knowledge of the topics of the orientation course is tested. Thus, among other things, questions are asked about history, the legal system and life in Germany. In a questionnaire consisting of 33 questions and four answer options each, at least 60 questions must be answered correctly within 15 minutes. With help of a questionnaire and sample questionnaire can be learned in advance for the exam.
