Ukrainian Tht German version

The clashes between Russia and Ukraine have unsettled the world. The armed conflicts have been going on for several months now, forcing many Ukrainians to leave their homes and seek security for themselves and their families in another country. Germany is also showing solidarity with those affected and has already taken in several hundred thousand Ukrainians. Nationwide integration and language programs are intended to help all refugees to gain a foothold and build a stable life.

The Central German Institute participates in this mission and offers free language courses for Ukrainians to learn German at various locations, which are 100 percent supported by the Federal Office for Migrants and Refugees (BAMF) and thus for all participants free can be completed.

Integration via language programs

Every day, several hundred people flee the warlike conditions in their own country and seek refuge in Germany. It was clear from the start that the refugees had to be given all possible help to make it easier for them to settle in and integrate into German society. First and foremost, accommodation and care for the refugees must be provided, but plans have also been formulated that aim for the sustainable integration of each refugee. On a nationwide level, offers for integration courses are to be prepared in which every Ukrainian can participate voluntarily.

Language programs make a major contribution to making it easier to settle into a new country. In the long term, removing the language barrier creates the basis for leading a self-determined life without being dependent on outside help. In order for this to work, the language courses are usually extensive and cover many topics of everyday life. These are dealt with both verbally and in writing. In addition, extended language skills are trained, for example in the form of application training or filling out forms.

Integration courses do not serve to impart language skills, but also to provide orientation in the new culture. In order to make it as easy as possible for the Ukrainian refugees to find their way around the German legal system and everyday life, an orientation course is often held as part of the integration process.

Learning German from scratch for Ukrainians at the MIQR

With our language programs you can learn German sustainably (up to language level B1.2). At the beginning we carry out a placement test, which we use to check your previous knowledge of the German language. Depending on how you perform here, we will then assign you to the appropriate module. For example, you can go straight to the advanced course if you can prove that you have an A1.2 language level.

Optionally, you can then attend our orientation courses, through which you can acquire everyday knowledge about living and working in Germany.
